Schoellhorn-Albrecht, one of the nation's oldest marine deck equipment manufacturers, was organized in 1887 and incorporated in 1892. We have been serving the marine industry with a complete line of high quality, new equipment and products for over a century. Our company's interesting history includes shipping steamboat engines and deck equipment for river boats built in Alaska and used on the Yukon River during the gold rush days of 1898-1900. Today Schoellhorn-Albrecht continues to provide quality anchors, accommodation ladders, capstans, winches and deck fittings along with complete machine shop capabilities that include factory repair/reconditioning and replacement parts to customers worldwide.
Schoellhorn-Albrecht has enjoyed a long history in St. Louis, due to the amount of river traffic as this country grew over the years. On the St. Louis Riverfront, the property at 721 N. Second Street was cleared in 1791 for the Schoellhorn-Albrecht building. This plot of land was also the site of the freeing of the first Mulatto slave, Esther. The building was constructed more than 120 years ago and is one for the oldest buildings in the St Louis’ Laclede’s Landing. This was the Schoelhorn-Albrecht Machine Company, where we manufactured capstans for the Mississippi River barges. |
